3M Scotchgard Paint Protection Film protects the leading edge of your vehicle with the application of a thin and virtually undetectable clear urethane film. All of our kits are computer cut from 8mil (.008”) 3M Scotchgard film according to your vehicle’s make and model. You get maximum coverage on the most chip prone areas. Best of all, this durable film has a clear-coat finish for maximum shine. This protective film is easily maintained with no special care required. Just wash and wax like you always have before! If necessary, this film can be removed with ZERO damage to painted surfaces. 3M Scotchgard Paint Protection Film is officially endorsed by NASCAR and approved by all automobile manufacturers.

NOTE: The previous version of the Automotive Grade Paint Protection Film that was approved by OEM had a distinct feature of having Red 3M Logos on its liner. It was extensively used by professionals for several years. However, it is now considered outdated technology and is no longer being produced.

This particular Surface Protection Film was notorious for its Red 3M Logos on the liner, and was largely responsible for 3M film earning a negative reputation in the 1990's and 2000's for its tendency to exhibit orange peel and yellowing.

This film was designed to be cheaper by excluding the UV inhibitors that were included in the 848 Series, which was an OEM Approved product that had a similar appearance. Unfortunately, many installers used this film on car hoods, even though it was not intended to be used on exterior surfaces, because it was approximately 20% cheaper. We are pleased to see that it has finally been discontinued.

The previous Automotive Grade Paint Protection Film has been replaced by the Scotchgard™ Paint Protection Film Pro Series 200 Gloss, which does not have any logos on the liner and has been designed without any cost-cutting measures.
